Down day

Monday was scheduled to be a quiet day, and thankfully so.  We all sleep in, and Alan actually goes back to bed after getting up briefly for lunch.  Our disappointment to discover that our suitcases did not arrive Sunday night is very intense.  Diana, the manager at Banana Village, promises to keep in touch with the airport and monitor the situation.

We enjoy some rest time by the pool and meet with Jackie to go over Kulikayo finances, transfers, progress of the family businesses and school placements for the children.

Our home away from home

Davis is doing a contract driving to Misindi today, but his boss, Stephen, agrees to make a run to the airport just before midnight to gather our bags when we get word that 7 of the missing 8 suitcases have arrived.  It's disappointing that we need to hire someone on our dime to get the bags, or wait until "sometime" in the morning for the airport to deliver.

Bummer to learn that the bag still missing is Alan's with all his clothing, toiletries, some electronic cords, photo supplies including selfie stick for the GoPro.  The Banana Village staff promise to keep on top of the situation.

It's frustrating that the United Airlines and Brussels Airlines websites both offer links to trace late/missing luggage but provide no information when we plug in our file number.  Furthermore, any toll-free contact numbers are only good in North America and Europe.  The last thing we need to do is to wait on hold on an overseas long distance call.
